Best Office-Friendly Plants

Now that the kids are back to school, it’s time to start thinking about you again! Give your office a “refresh” with easy-care plants that are perfect for your work place. Here are a few plant options for low-, medium- and high-light offices:

Low-Light

While all plants need some light to live, some are more adaptable to low-light conditions, making them a great choice for light-starved offices. If your office is located in an area that receives mostly artificial light, then the “corn plant” may be the perfect plant for you. One of the most resilient plants of its order, the Dracaena fragrans can thrive with fluorescent lighting and little watering, making it ideal for the busy professional.

Medium-Light

Some plants have the ability to do well in bright or dark spaces. The Aglaonema a tropical plant, can thrive in bright or dim spaces, making it great for east or west facing windows. Keeping the soil slightly moist at all times will provide ideal circumstances for the plant along with medium light. With bold red, pink, orange, or white leaves, the Aglaonema boasts its beautiful colors all year-round.

High-Light

Does your office seem to be a death trap for plants? The bromeliad should do the trick for those cursed with a black thumb! Growing best in bright light, Bromeliaceae are tropical plants that typically attach themselves to trees or structures to obtain maximum light. Moist soil is a must for these sun-bathing beauties, and the reward is well worth it! Near the end of its life, the plant may produce an inflorescence or flower whose color and form differ widely among varieties. Its leaves grow in a natural rosette, making this plant wildly popular in a bright-lighted professional atmosphere.
